Mangaka: Koyoharu Gotouge
Studio: Ufotable
Release Date: October 16, 2020
One of the best parts of the movie was being allowed a glimpse into the backstories of the characters. We know what motivates them, but seeing them brought to life through Enmu’s demonic powers was both happy and tragic to watch. Being a member of the demon slayer corps requires individuals with strong determination, and in Mugen Train they have to defend themselves solely through their willpower. This is because their weapons and skills are useless against the Lower Rank one demon Enmu and his demonic entanglement. The movie starts by showing their strengths as they all work together to defeat Enmu and as awe-inspiring as it is; it only leads to the main battle against the Upper Rank Three demon, Akaza. The Flame Hashira Kyōjurō takes center stage here since the younger demon slayers are no match against him. With each demon, the anime continues to stress just how much stronger the demons truly are, and the sacrifices needed to defeat them. Seson one was full of casualties in the war against the demons and this movie was no exception. I thought it was a great followup to season one and am definitely waiting for the next installment from Ufotable.
Mugen train was one of my recent favs ? Did you know there was a real Mugen train that was decorated as a replica from the film during the release of this anime. Fans could ride the 100 year old train from Tokyo to Gunma prefecture!
My wife and I would love to go sightseeing there one day 😉
